SUNY's polyether-based defoamers are a specific class of antifoaming agents known for their effectiveness in suppressing foam preventatively and for their excellent compatibility, thermal stability, and low residue compared to other types like silicone- or mineral oil-based defoamers.
Primary Applications:
Pulp & Paper Processing: Crucial throughout the process, especially in kraft pulping (digesters, brown stock washing, black liquor), deinking flotation, paper coating formulations, and paper machines (white water systems). Withstand high temps, alkalinity, and surfactants.
Water Treatment:
Water Treatment:
- Industrial & Municipal Wastewater: Particularly where silicone carry-over is undesirable in effluent, reuse water, or sludge digesters.
- Cooling Water Systems & Boiler Feed Water.
- Cooling Water Systems & Boiler Feed Water.
Food & Beverage Processing:
- Fermentation Tanks (e.g., brewing, yeast production).
- Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) Systems.
- Sugar Beet/Cane Processing.
- Food Processing Lines (syrups, jams, sauces).
Coatings & Adhesives:
- Water-based Latex Paints & Industrial Coatings: Prevent defects (pinholing, craters).
- Paper/Printing Inks: Prevent foam in gravure, flexo inks.
- Water-based Laminating Adhesives & Glues.
Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Manufacturing:
- Fermentation media and downstream processes.
- Sterile manufacturing processes (some grades are sterilizable by autoclave/filtration).
- Cosmetic formulations requiring clear/low-residue properties and regulatory compliance.
Emulsion Polymerization:
- Added during polymer synthesis to control foam caused by monomers and surfactants without destabilizing the emulsion.
